The Jones Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Ingleside Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jones will be strutting in after a victory while Ingleside will be coming in after a defeat.
Jones took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Calhoun. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Trojans considering their two-run performance the game before.

Davyn Perez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Damien Vasquez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Tyler Lang was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Jones was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calhoun only posted a batting average of .158.
Meanwhile, Ingleside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Calhoun.
Jones pushed their record up to 8-12-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ingleside, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14-2.
Jones came out on top in a nail-biter against Ingleside when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
