He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Nolan Schreffler was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaac Jackson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Upper Dauphin Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport only posted a batting average of .148.
Meanwhile, Greenwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 11-0 to Halifax. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, Greenwood's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Upper Dauphin Area's record now sits at 2-3. As for Greenwood, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Greenwood's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Upper Dauphin Area has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431. It's a different story for Greenwood, though, as they've only averaged .295. Will they be able to contain Upper Dauphin Area's hitters?
Upper Dauphin Area came out on top in a nail-biter against Greenwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 12-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for Upper Dauphin Area since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
