The Aragon Dons will challenge the Capuchino Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Aragon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Carlmont.
The result came thanks to Makayla Hafoka's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Taylor Workman was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Capuchino waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Star Gutierrez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Dana Motroni was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Capuchino was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burlingame only posted a batting average of .062.
Capuchino's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Aragon, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Aragon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Capuchino struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Aragon might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Capuchino in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Dons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
