The Osceola Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Hagerty Huskies at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Osceola is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Osceola's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over Dunedin. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by nine runs or more this season.
Not much got past Aliyah Lai, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Dunedin off the board. Lai has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cassidy Allen was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Theresa Diez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Osceola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Hagerty put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Seminole as Hagerty made off with a 13-1 victory. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Huskies yet this season.
Alexis Willimason tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Hagerty let Ana Roman and Alina Gallaher run wild. Roman scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Gallaher went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four runs gave Roman a new career-high. Campbell Downing was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
Hagerty's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Osceola, their record now sits at 8-0.
Osceola's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. Osceola has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hagerty, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Osceola continue to outrun the ball?
