The Indian Springs Thunderbirds entered their tilt with the Tonopah Muckers with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. Indian Springs walked away with a 37-28 win over Tonopah on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Indian Springs, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Indian Springs' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Oriyah Clay, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. Clay is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Celina Pena, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Indian Springs' victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Tonopah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Indian Springs' road trip will continue as they head out to face Beatty at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Beatty comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Tonopah won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lone Pine at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Lone Pine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 1067th in California, while Tonopah is ranked 73rd in Nevada).
