Sangamon Valley recap October 1, 2013
Momence's Leanthony Reasnover recorded the longest rushing play in Sangamon Valley this season in his game against Watseka last week. Reasnover ran for 91 yards on the play and finished with 160 on the day as his team beat the Warriors.
Central extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Thomas More, 35-10. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Comets.
J.R. Caspary threw for 242 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Jesse Fulwiley was the best wideout in the league this week as Momence defeated Watseka. Fulwiley tallied 2 receptions for 92 yards. Zach Hamman helped Momence's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 74 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Aaron Cantwell and Reasnover, Matt Fox's team has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Cantwell is tops in the league in passing with 991 yards, while Reasnover has rushed for 608 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Central's Noah Frerichs, with 295 yards on 12 catches.
The top two teams in Sangamon Valley will face off this week when first place Central takes on second place Paxton-Buckley-Loda. Last week, Brian Spooner's team topped the Sabers, while Paxton-Buckley-Loda lost to Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Comets take on the Panthers. Central has allowed 24 points this season, while Paxton-Buckley-Loda has given up 51. The Comets allowed 10 points last week as they beat St. Thomas More.
St. Joseph-Ogden led the league in scoring this week by notching 43 points on Iroquois West.
