Branson/Kim is 6-1 against La Veta since September of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Branson/Kim is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Deer Trail: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bearcats blew the Eagles out of the water with a 53-22 final score. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won three games by 31 points or more so far this season.
Cooper Winter had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 115 yards and four TDs on only ten passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Doherty, who rushed for 92 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Branson/Kim's defense and their four sacks. In that department, Collin Doherty was the leader with two. He has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played. Will got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Veta, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past Cotopaxi 38-7 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 26-0.
La Veta found their leader in freshman Weston Huff, who rushed for 70 yards and one score on only six carries, and also caught a pair of TDs. Huff also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making 12 total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
La Veta was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.
La Veta didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kendall Ingram and Huff. La Veta received some extra help from Huff, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
The victory made it two in a row for Branson/Kim and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 29 points in those games. As for La Veta, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Everything came up roses for Branson/Kim against La Veta in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 55-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
