Central (Fort Pierce, Fla.) captured the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for a 21-17 victory over 
Vero Beach (Fla.) on Saturday. The Cobras captured the lead for good when 
Sam Vaughn ran for a touchdown.
The Cobras led 7-3 at halftime, but the Indians recaptured the lead on a 
Dalton Stokes touchdown pass to 
Javonte Bagley with 7:00 to go in the third. Central finally took the lead for good as Vaughn ran for a touchdown with 5:00 left in the fourth quarter.
By the end of the third, CHS found itself trailing by 10 points as Vero Beach captured the lead thanks to two scores in the quarter. VB scored on a Stokes touchdown pass to Bagley and a 
Jason Pierre touchdown run in the quarter.
The Indians' Stokes played well. The junior quarterback threw one touchdown.
J.j. Stevens was the top performer for the Fort Pierce school. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown.
The Cobras got revenge for last year's 35-28 loss to Vero Beach with the victory.
The loss comes after Vero Beach defeated Westwood 49-0 last week. The loss snapped VB's 3-game winning streak. With the win Central extended its winning streak to three games.
Vero Beach (3-1) goes up against East Lee County in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Central (3-0) locks horns with Viera in a 7A District 12 game.
