Stone Memorial snuck past Pickett County with a 60-54 victory on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Stone Memorial, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Cade Capps was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Stone Memorial's points. Brady Lane was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 7 rebounds.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Amonett, who scored 15 points along with 9 assists and 3 steals. The contest was Amonett's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gage Harris, who scored 16 points.
Stone Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Pickett County, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stone Memorial will take on York Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. York Institute will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Stone Memorial is ranked 47th). As for Pickett County, they will head out on the road to face off against Cumberland County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
