IDEA Bluff Springs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anthony Lopez, who scored ten points along with three steals. Lopez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Andres Gonzalez, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
IDEA Montopolis found their leader in underclassman Damarion Fisher, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. That makes it six consecutive games in which Fisher has scored at least a third of IDEA Montopolis' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Sneed, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
IDEA Bluff Springs has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for IDEA Montopolis, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. IDEA Bluff Springs will take on Wayside: Sci-Tech at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully IDEA Bluff Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for IDEA Montopolis, they will head out on the road to challenge Valor South Austin at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Valor South Austin is on a seven-game streak of home wins, IDEA Montopolis a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
