The Johnston City Indians were the 45-44 winner over the Waltonville Spartans when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Johnston City had to suffer through a rough 84-33 loss at the hands of Waltonville. Johnston City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-15.
Makabe Devor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Waltonville, scoring 21 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Devor has scored all season. Kyle Cooper was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Johnston City and nudges their season record down to 10-18. As for Waltonville, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-6.
Johnston City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-53 defeat vs. Steeleville on the 10th. Waltonville has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cisne at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Cisne will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 525th, while Waltonville is ranked 231st).
