The Summit Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 48-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denbigh Baptist Christian. While losing is never fun, Summit Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Denbigh Baptist Christian is ranked 13th).
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Johnson, who scored 7 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Courtland Reiter was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Denbigh Baptist Christian can attribute much of their success to Ethan Claville, who scored 17 points. The game was Claville's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of William Showalter, who scored 11 points.
Summit Christian Academy bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Summit Christian Academy will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Yeshivas Aish Kodesh Talmudical Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against Suffolk Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Suffolk Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Tuesday.
