The Sweetwater Wildcats struggled with assists on Tuesday (the McMinn Central Chargers had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sweetwater ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-49 walloping at the hands of McMinn Central. Sweetwater has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Sweetwater lost, one person who can't be blamed is Chris Alford. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Alford is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cade Houser, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Will Cooper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for McMinn Central, scoring 30 points along with six assists and three steals. Cooper hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Bystry, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Sweetwater's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for McMinn Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Sweetwater will be playing at home against Tellico Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tellico Plains knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Sweetwater likes a good challenge. McMinn Central will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Polk County at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. McMinn Central is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.6 points per game this season.
