Two dominant backs in Kolten Zurmuehlen and Turner Milender are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks will welcome the Superior Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Seeley-Swan sitting on five straight wins and Superior on four.
Seeley-Swan's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Troy 54-0. Fans of the Blackhawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.
It was another big night for Quinlan McClure, who rushed for 142 yards and three TDs. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 79 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Irwin, who threw for 39 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Seeley-Swan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cash Schuster, Tully Good, and Zurmuehlen picked up one apiece. Seeley-Swan got some further help from Derrick Brovold: he picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Superior duked it out with Darby on Friday. The Bobcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 34-32.
Seeley-Swan better keep an eye on Phineas Cataldo. He was instrumental in Superior's win, picking up 111 receiving yards and two scores. Those 111 receiving yards gave Cataldo a new career-high. Gannon Quinlan was another key player, rushing for 73 yards and one TD on only eight carries.
Seeley-Swan's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Superior, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Seeley-Swan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 254.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Superior struggles in that department as they've been averaging 245.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Seeley-Swan against Superior in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 66-22 victory. Will the Blackhawks repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
