Even though the Nogales Apaches scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, the Buena Colts still came out on top. Buena walked away with a 68-60 win over Nogales. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Buena also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Jamin Booker was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Pacheco, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Nogales lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Andres Franco, who scored 12 points along with six assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Tony Rodriguez, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Buena is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Nogales, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buena won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Desert View at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Desert View is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Nogales, they will head out on the road to face off against Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cholla will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
