It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Washington Union Panthers had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 41-13 victory over Atascadero on the road. With Washington Union ahead 27-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Washington Union to victory, but perhaps none more so than Davien Potts, who rushed for 57 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Potts was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Washington Union also got help from Ryan Brown who showed off his sure hands for 88 receiving yards.
Atascadero's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kane Cooks, who threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Mateo Cano was another key contributor, gaining 85 total yards and a touchdown.
The win makes it two in a row for Washington Union and bumps their season record up to 5-7. As for Atascadero, their loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-1.
Washington Union will head out on the road to face off against Mission Oak at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Mission Oak is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. Atascadero does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
