The Cheyenne Desert Shields scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Eldorado 70-22 at home. The win was just what Cheyenne needed coming off of a 71-34 loss in their prior match.
Cheyenne was led to victory by Tariyh Turner and Nita Franklin. Turner scored 18 points along with six rebounds, while Franklin scored 18 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Turner scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ananda Jackson, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Cheyenne has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Eldorado, their loss was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-11.
Cheyenne will challenge Somerset Academy Losee at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Akaylah Thrower and Franklin. As for Eldorado, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southeast Career Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Southeast Career Tech is ranked 76th, while Eldorado is ranked 96th).
