Softball Recap: Piedra Vista Makes It Ten in a Row at Home

While Piedra Vista's victory against Kirtland Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Piedra Vista Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Kirtland Central Broncos on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won eight in a row.

BROOKELYNN CADRAIN made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, MICHAELA PEREA was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was ISABELLA JESSEE, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Piedra Vista hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kirtland Central struck out ten times.

Piedra Vista pushed their record up to 6-4-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Kirtland Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Piedra Vista will challenge Santa Fe at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Fe knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Piedra Vista likes a good challenge. We've got a battle between Broncos coming up.
