The Westfall Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Unioto Shermans at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Westfall has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Westfall is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Monday. They came up short against Southeastern, falling 13-3. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Jill Butcher was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That stolen base was her first of the season. Rylan Hamilton was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Unioto came up short against McClain on Tuesday and fell 20-16. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (15), the Shermans still had to take the loss.
Kailani Hutton stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-6 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Haylee Hull, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Unioto's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Westfall, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Westfall hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Unioto struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Westfall couldn't quite get it done against Unioto in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 as they fell 9-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
