The Glenwood Titans were the 65-61 winner over the Alton Redbirds when they last played one another back in February of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. Glenwood was beaten by Alton 67-35 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Glenwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Alton is ranked fourth).
Despite the defeat, Glenwood saw an underclassman step up: Alexis Neumann scored eight points along with six rebounds. Karley Hawkins was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Glenwood's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-3. As for Alton, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Glenwood will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lincoln has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,244 points over their last 17 matches. Alton won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Whitney Young at 3:00 p.m. on January 5th. Whitney Young is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
