The Oakley Plainsmen won against the Hill City Ringnecks on Saturday with 58 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Oakley claimed a resounding 58-15 win over Hill City on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-5.
Oakley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karli Krier led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Krier pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Beckman, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hill City struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Oakley racked up 19 assists.
Oakley has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Hill City, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-7.
Oakley on the road again on Monday and play against Smith Center on January 15th. Smith Center is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Hill City, they will take on Russell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Russell is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
