Montgomery's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Daphne is ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Erik Washington, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Zion Hunter, who scored six points.
Mary G. Montgomery's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.4 points per game. As for Daphne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mary G. Montgomery won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vigor at 3:00 p.m. on December 9th. Vigor has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 595 points over their last eight matches. Daphne's road trip will continue as they head out to face Spanish Fort at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
