The Thurgood Marshall Cougars suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 84-59 defeat at the hands of Belmont. Even though they lost, Thurgood Marshall's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
When it comes to explaining why Thurgood Marshall lost, one person who can't be blamed is Reggie Person. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Lattimore, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Belmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Denzell Ogle, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Ogle hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Judah Baldwin was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Thurgood Marshall are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9. As for Belmont, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thurgood Marshall will face off against Ponitz Career Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Ponitz Career Tech is ranked 529th, while Thurgood Marshall is ranked 506th). As for Belmont, they will head out on the road to challenge Stivers School for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
