The Holy Cross Indians''s game two Fridays ago was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They breezed by Trimble County at home to the tune of 48-6. With Holy Cross ahead 34-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holy Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Thomas Maddox, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 75 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. Maddox was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Donovan Ambrocio was another key contributor, throwing for 214 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes.
Holy Cross' win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Dohn Community and 2-6 Middletown Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.6% over those games). Trimble County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Holy Cross will square off against Ludlow at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ludlow is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Trimble County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bishop Brossart at 7:30 p.m.
