Baseball Recap: Goleman Comes Up Short

Goleman fell victim to Coral Gables and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Sebastian Fernandez was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Goleman saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Cabrera, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Goleman has also been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. The win made it two in a row for Coral Gables and bumps their season record up to 6-9-1.

Looking ahead, Goleman will challenge South Dade at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Coral Gables, they will square off against Downtown Doral at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coral Gables is facing Downtown Doral at the right time seeing as Downtown Doral is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
