Trinity (Euless, Texas) extended its winning streak to six games with a 55-0 victory over Irving (Texas) on Saturday.
The Trojans were up 35-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Matt Hawkins touchdown pass to
Deandre Roberson in the first quarter.
Trinity expanded its lead to 48 points entering the fourth quarter. THS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Isaac Ellsworth touchdown run.
Hawkins stood out for the Euless school in the win. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for one touchdown.
The Trojans entered the contest giving up 18.4 points per game this year. Trinity held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Tigers well below the 30.3 points it had been averaging per game.
A 64-0 Trinity victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Irving, which notched a 54-0 victory over Turner in its previous outing.
In a 5A Region I District 6 game next week Trinity (7-2) takes on Turner, and Irving (3-6) will go up against MacArthur also in a 5A Region I District 6 game.
