Carmel moved up to 567 from 603 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mission Trail. The Padres were able to make move up by topping Soledad 50-6.
Carmel extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Aztecs, 50-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the Golden Anderson's team.
Stevenson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. John Jackson threw for 56 and one touchdown and Grant Peszynski had 21 yards receiving. On the ground Stephen Hotta chipped in 120 yards. Kazim Apaydin helped Stevenson's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Sergio Baez of Gonzales is the league leader in passing yards this season with 427. He has also thrown two touchdowns. On the ground, the Pirates' Hotta has rushed for 806 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Peszynski. The Stevenson star has 10 catches for 231 yards.
The top two teams in Mission Trail will face off this week when first place Carmel takes on second place Pacific Grove. The Padres defeated Soledad last week, while Pacific Grove topped King City.
Stevenson took down the Spartans 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jackson ran for 35 yards in the win.
