The North Warren Central Cougars will take on the Smithtown Christian Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
North Warren Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Parishville-Hopkinton. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won seven contests in a row.

Wyatt Jennings and Owen Scheafer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Jennings tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Scheafer didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Jennings went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Scheafer went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. North Warren Central is undefeated when Jennings posts two or more runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Daniel Mattison was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Maceo Matson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Smithtown Christian never let their opponents score on Sunday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Eldred. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Like North Warren Central, Smithtown Christian also got a great game from a pair of two-way players: Quincy Gibbs. Throwing, Gibbs pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Vaughn Beresford didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. At bat, Gibbs went 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles, while Beresford went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Calder, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Erick Aristy also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Smithtown Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eldred only posted a batting average of .067.
North Warren Central's record is now 14-5-1. As for Smithtown Christian, their record now sits at 16-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. North Warren Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Smithtown Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.7 strikeouts.
