Baseball Recap: Ravenswood Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

Ravenswood won the last time they faced Wirt County and things went their way on Monday too. The Red Devils blew past the Tigers 13-2. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Evan Hickman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lucas Pursley and Evan Swain did most of the damage at the plate: Pursley went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Swain went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Swain has become a key player for Ravenswood: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ralphie Rhodes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Ravenswood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wirt County only posted an OBP of .357.

Ravenswood is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Wirt County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Looking ahead, Ravenswood will head out on the road to take on Gilmer County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Wirt County, they will host Magnolia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
