The Clay County Tigers had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They enjoyed a cozy 85-68 win over Pineville. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Clay County to victory were Jerrod Roark and Elijah Bundy. Roark scored 25 points, while Bundy dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Landon Dezarn , who scored 11 points.
Clay County's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Pineville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Clay County will head out on the road to face off against Bell County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pineville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cumberland Gap at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cumberland Gap will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
