Windsor Academy is 2-8 against Brentwood since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Windsor Academy Knights will welcome the Brentwood War Eagles at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Windsor Academy lost 57-36 to Gatewood on Monday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Savannah Roberts, who posted six points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Abby Price, who put up six points.
Meanwhile, Brentwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Trinity Christian on the road by a 47-30 margin. The game marked the War Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Windsor Academy will have to contain Cadence English as she made an impact in Brentwood's last game. She dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 boards. English's evening made it 12 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Jones, who scored two points and three steals.
Even though they lost, Brentwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
Brentwood's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Windsor Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Windsor Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Brentwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Windsor Academy was taken down by Brentwood 58-18 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of English, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Now that Windsor Academy knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
