Comeaux is 2-8 against New Iberia since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Comeaux Spartans will venture away from home to face off against the New Iberia Yellowjackets at 11:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Saturday.
Comeaux gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victor by a 17-4 margin over Opelousas. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Nicholas Kurowski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Comeaux got a big performance out of Cohen Rentrop, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Rentrop a new career-high. Mahki Dufrene was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, New Iberia waltzed into their match on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by ten runs or more this season.
New Iberia pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Comeaux, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-8.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Comeaux has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. However, it's not like New Iberia struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Comeaux suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to New Iberia when the teams last played back in February. Can Comeaux avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
