Warren East has gone a perfect 6-0 against Edmonson County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Warren East is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
On Monday, it was close, but Warren East sidestepped Bowling Green for a 5-3 victory.
The team relied heavily on Kennedy Lawson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Jones, who earned one run and four stolen bases.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Edmonson County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Grayson County by a score of 10-7. Considering the Wildcats' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Julie Norris spent all 8.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emma Price was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Davis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Edmonson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Warren East's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Edmonson County, they moved to 11-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Warren East's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Edmonson County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Warren East continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Warren East's way against Edmonson County in their previous matchup back in March, as Warren East made off with a 15-5 victory. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
