Servite has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Serra Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Servite extended their postseason success on Friday against Long Beach Poly. They came out on top against the Jackrabbits by a score of 27-20.
Among those leading the charge was Quaid Carr, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown. Carr is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Gavin Gutierrez also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Serra faced Los Alamitos in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Serra walked away with a 38-28 victory over Los Alamitos on Friday. The win was nothing new for Serra as they're now sitting on three straight.
Cincere Rhaney was his usual excellent self, rushing for 212 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Rhaney has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimmy Butler, who threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Serra's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 5.5 sacks. Khary Wilder was especially locked on to Los Alamitos' QB and sacked him four times.
Servite has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Serra, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home.
