After a string of nine wins, the Mercer Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 86-33 loss at the hands of Meadville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mercer has scored all season.
It was another big night for Korrie Holcer, who shot 5-for-10 from long range and dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten steals for Meadville. Holcer is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Madison Carvajal was another key contributor, dropping a triple-double on 17 points, ten assists, and ten steals.
Mercer's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Meadville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Winston at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Winston is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Meadville, they will head out on the road to square off against Tina-Avalon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Tina-Avalon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 489th, while Meadville is ranked 25th).
