The Rocky Mountain Prep SMART Ocelotls will head out on the road to take on the DSST: College View Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mountain Prep SMART is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
While Rocky Mountain Prep SMART couldn't quite beat STEM School Highlands Ranch on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 38-point loss they were dealt last Wednesday. Rocky Mountain Prep SMART fell just short of STEM School Highlands Ranch by a score of 48-46.
Rocky Mountain Prep SMART's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jaziel Perez, who scored 15 points along with five assists, and Xavier Galvan who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Gio Caldera was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Meanwhile, even though Aurora West College Prep Academy scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, DSST: College View still came out on top. DSST: College View took their game against Aurora West College Prep Academy 70-57. The victory was just what DSST: College View needed coming off of a 75-38 defeat in their prior match.
Isaias Tomita was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Tomita is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Joshua Sosa, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Rocky Mountain Prep SMART has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for DSST: College View, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Rocky Mountain Prep SMART came up short against DSST: College View when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 56-46. Can Rocky Mountain Prep SMART avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
