The Wallace Wildcats are on the road again on Friday and plays the Maxwell Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Wallace focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
Wallace struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Eagles had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Wallace fell 47-40 to the Eagles.
Wallace's loss came about despite a quality game from Ashley Robertson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robertson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kaley Sauser, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Maxwell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They lost to Perkins County at home by a decisive 54-35 margin. Maxwell has struggled against the Plainsmen recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Madelyn Flock, who scored six points along with two steals. Kristyn Cheek was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Wallace's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Maxwell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wallace have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Maxwell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Wallace beat the Wildcats 41-34 when the teams last played on Thursday. Will Wallace repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
