Volleyball Recap: Vanguard Academy's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams on Thursday, Vanguard Academy came back down to earth. Vanguard Academy fell 3-1 to the Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs on Friday. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-21 in the first set.

Vanguard Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-12, 25-22, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Vanguard Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Locklynne Mattingly had 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Mattingly.

Vanguard Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-5.

Vanguard Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Freedom Prep Academy on the 25th. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against American Heritage on the 25th.
