The Yoakum Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Palacios Sharks, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Yoakum enjoyed a cozy 47-32 win over Palacios. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Yoakum.
Yoakum's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayana Phillips led the charge by scoring 11 points along with nine steals and five rebounds. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Gonzales, who scored 14 points.
Yoakum now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Palacios, they bumped their record down to 17-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Yoakum will square off against Edna at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Edna presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Yoakum in Texas (Edna is ranked 347th, while Yoakum is ranked 774th). As for Palacios, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Columbus at 6:00 p.m.
