Boca Raton hasn't had much luck against Stoneman Douglas recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Boca Raton Bobcats will square off against the Stoneman Douglas Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Boca Raton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
Boca Raton took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Spanish River. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bobcats as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Chase Crawford, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jordan Davis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Stoneman Douglas came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 9-4. With that win, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Gio Rojas made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI.
In other pitching news, Payton Jay looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
Back at the plate, Drew Freeman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. Nick Diaz was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Stoneman Douglas pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Boca Raton, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-8.
Boca Raton suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Stoneman Douglas in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Boca Raton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
