For the first time this season, Ferris will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Hillsboro Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Ferris put up the most runs they have all season on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over Eustace. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Yellowjackets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Aldo Gonzalez was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Max Sanchez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Ferris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .757. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hillsboro can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They put the hurt on Itasca with a sharp 17-7 victory.
Mason Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lewis was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Hillsboro got a massive performance out of Carson Barker, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Braxton Borde was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Ferris' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5-1. As for Hillsboro, their record now sits at 2-6.
Everything went Ferris' way against Hillsboro in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, as Ferris made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
