The Bowie Jackrabbits will head out on the road to challenge the Holliday Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bowie will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 709th, while Holliday is ranked 86th).
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Bowie, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 59-44 loss to Vernon. Bowie has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bowie's defeat came about despite a quality game from Tucker Jones, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Sandhoff, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Holliday came tearing into Friday's match with 27 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Vernon by a score of 50-39.
Bowie has not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-17 record this season. As for Holliday, their victory was their 13th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 28-2.
Bowie lost to Holliday on the road by a decisive 58-43 margin when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Holliday's Keitenn Bristow, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 15 rebounds. Now that Bowie knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
