2A Region 4 recap October 1, 2013
East Webster added to the longest winning streak in 2A Region 4 this week by beating J.Z. George, 33-20. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Okolona scaled the state rankings by moving to 159 from 199 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chieftains climbed the ranks as a result of beating Shannon 24-6.
Jack Wilson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as East Webster bested the Jaguars. He completed 7 passes for 111 yards and also ran for 19 yards. Wilson's favorite target this week was Mckinley Hollenhead, who caught 4 passes for 64 yards.
Donta Armstrong put up the best numbers through the air as Bruce defeated Amory. He finished with a total of 9 completions for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns. Armstrong's favorite target this week was Jadarrius Benson, who caught 2 passes for 35 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Armstrong of the Trojans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 538. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hollenhead. The East Webster star has 11 catches for 211 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Bruce and Calhoun City face off next week.
An important game coming up in 2A Region 4 this week will be when Doug Wilson's team takes on Okolona. The Wolverines are in second place, while the Chieftains are in fourth place.
James Ray's team took down the Panthers 21-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Armstrong ran for 21 yards in the win.
