The Handley Judges put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 47-38 win over Meridian. Given Handley's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while Meridian is ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meridian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maureen Tremblay, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Tremblay is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Lieu, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Handley's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Handley will square off against Rock Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meridian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Forest Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 10th.
