The Gage Park Fighting Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 79-46 defeat at the hands of DuSable. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gage Park in their matchups with DuSable: they've now lost three in a row.
DuSable found their leader in underclassman Jesse Suggs, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Suggs has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ave'Veyon Watkins, who scored 13 points.
Gage Park's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for DuSable, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Gage Park will head out on the road to face off against Tilden at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Tilden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 40 on Thursday. As for DuSable, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kelly at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Kelly is ranked 545th, while DuSable is ranked 533rd).
