On Thursday, the Woonsocket Villa Novans faced the Cranston West Falcons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Woonsocket fell 21-14 to Cranston West. Woonsocket has struggled against Cranston West recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Kelan Cornell was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 119 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Salas and his 93 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Cranston West's victory.
Woonsocket now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Cranston West, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Woonsocket will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Cumberland at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The timing is sure in Cumberland's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Woonsocket has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. After each having a week off, Cranston West and Cranston East will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. Cranston East comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
