The Lightridge Bolts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Riverside Ram at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Thursday, Lightridge came up short against Independence and fell 51-39. Lightridge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Riverside suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 68-48 walloping at the hands of Potomac Falls. While losing is never fun, Riverside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while Potomac Falls is ranked 14th).
Despite the loss, Riverside saw an underclassman step up: Mason Ridgeway scored 20 points along with three steals. Ridgeway is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Crissman, who scored 11 points.
Lightridge bumped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Riverside, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Lightridge couldn't quite finish off Riverside when the teams last played back in January of 2023 and fell 52-49. Can Lightridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
