The McKenzie Rebels scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Big Sandy 96-35 at home. Winning may never get old, but McKenzie sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Despite the loss, Big Sandy still got an impressive performance from Bailey Berry, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. That was a full 68.6% of Big Sandy's points, marking the 13th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Big Sandy were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
McKenzie's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Big Sandy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McKenzie will face off against Big Sandy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Big Sandy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while McKenzie is ranked 76th). Big Sandy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Waverly Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Big Sandy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
