The Boyd Yellowjackets will be taking part in a tournament against the Benbrook Bobcats at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. Boyd's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Benbrook's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Boyd barely beat Jacksboro the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2025 (when they won 19-0).

Abby Atkinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Boyd let Maddilynn Harrison and Bella Tipton run wild. Harrison went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Tipton went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Salas, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Meanwhile, Benbrook and Rio Vista finished up on equal footing with a 13-13 tie on Tuesday.
With that tie, Benbrook's record moves to 2-3-1. As for Boyd, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Benbrook's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Boyd has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Benbrook, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Boyd keep running through batters, or will the Bobcats buck the trend?
Boyd came out on top in a nail-biter against Benbrook when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
