The Windermere Wolverines will square off against the Hagerty Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Windermere 4.1, Hagerty 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Windermere was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Minneola, taking the game 8-5. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Sophia Margelos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tessa Olofson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sophie Shaik was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Windermere was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Hagerty had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Hurricanes.
Addison Dilger tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.
At the plate, Hagerty let Alexis Felker and Alexandra Beldowicz run wild. Felker went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Beldowicz went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Beldowicz has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Hargrave, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Hagerty's victory bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Windermere, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
Windermere came out on top in a nail-biter against Hagerty when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
